A tour visit by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to Zewail City of Science and Technology
Zewail City welcomed Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in a visit to the City where accompanied by Dr. Mahmoud Abdrabou, Acting Executive President of Zewail City, and Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, media advisor and official spokesman for the ministry, and a number of city leaders.
As confirmed by H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour the importance of integrating Zewail City into the Greater Cairo Regional Alliance...supporting research cooperation with Egyptian universities, and the necessity of linking Zewail City’s research outputs to industry.
During the tour, the Minister inspected the city’s buildings and facilities, which include laboratories and the academic building that includes the Schools (Engineering, Science, Computational Sciences and Artificial Intelligence, and the School of Business) equipped according to the latest technological methods. The Minister also visited the lecture halls, in addition to the equipped academic and research laboratories. With the latest devices; To receive students from various specializations, as well as the city’s library equipped with modern electronic interactive media; To enable students to benefit from the latest educational and applied methods, H.E. Dr. Ayman, also visited the Nano Building, which includes Dr. Zewail’s laboratory (4D microscope), the materials science laboratory, and the clean room, as well as the student housing building, which contains 1,000 rooms equipped with the best hotel equipment.
During the tour, H.E. Dr. Ayman Ashour listened to a detailed explanation of the city’s equipment and capabilities that contributed to the excellence of students and researchers. The minister reassured that the appropriate environment for innovation and creativity is available, as the city applies the latest educational technologies and the active participation of students in the educational process, highlighting the necessity of linking the city’s outputs of research and research projects with industry.
On the same context of the tour, the Minister held an extensive meeting with researchers and faculty members of Zewail City, praising the city’s achievements, including a number of the city’s programs obtaining international accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology( ABET); The University of Science and Technology became the first Egyptian university to obtain this accreditation, highlighted the importance of Egyptian universities obtaining international accreditation (ABET).
